Storylin: A social storytelling website
Welcome to Storylin!
You need an account before you can submit stories. Click here to sign up for an account.
Storylin is a place to tell stories. If you like writing (or reading) stories, this website is for you. You can sign up and start telling stories right now, or read some existing stories.
How does this site work?
You’re given a randomly selected writing prompt to start you off (or you can choose your own), and you write a short story in response to it. We recommend this be a short narrative — around a few hundred words — but it can be nearly anything; poetry, autobiography, etc.
There are also ongoing interactive stories you can join. We refer to these as adventures. These resemble Choose-Your-Own-Adventure games in that they allow for multiple branches through a storyline.
What are the rules?
You have quite a lot of freedom to write what you feel like, but there are a few restrictions.
Please try to use correct grammar. We’re not extremely strict about it, but you need to at least make an attempt. Make sure you use the right form of your, there, etc.
Don’t personally insult or harass other members. If you do you will be banned. Constructive criticism is okay.
All sorts of different forms and genres are acceptable — poetry and prose, comedy and tragedy, even parody — but please put some sort of effort into your writing. Stories that just consist of “LOL Penises!” and such nonsense will be deleted.
What can I do to help?
I consider this site to be in beta right now. If you find a bug or error, please contact me.
Also, send me an email if you’re interested in being an editor here. This would involve writing scenarios and checking new stories for spam.
